48 Hours In Hong Kong: A Travel Guide For 2 Days In The City

Business or leisure? Depending on your key purpose, you can decide how you would want to plan out a trip to Hong Kong. In our case, we opted to reach Hong Kong as our gateway to China for the 16 day excursion we planned. In this post, we are going to share with you our recommended itinerary to cover Hong Kong in 2 really long and busy days. Certainly if you have more time, the better – but 2 packed days will be just fine if your main intention to visit Hong Kong is for leisure. To be specific, we arrived in a late April evening in Hong Kong so we had that evening to just check in to the hotel, freshen up, stretch our legs after an 11 hour flight from London, settle down and have dinner. The following day and the day after we had 48 full hours to ourselves to explore Hong Kong and we left on the 4th day.

Summer Airport Style

Summer holidays are a highlight of your year. Why not talk about summer travel style, and all the pieces I like to wear when I am on the go! To start it off, I am starting with the ‘airport look’, my go-to warm weather travel ensemble. Yes, airport looks are a reality now and let’s face it! People at the airports and everywhere who don’t know you personally judge you for what you wear and how you behave in public. Since we can’t fix the latter, let’s discuss how we travel comfortably keeping the style quotient right in place.

Portugal Please!Day 8: Algar Seco Rock Formations

It was our final day in Portugal and we were in the mood to play hide and seek with the Algarve coastline. We saw these rock formations with natural cavities along the coastline when we did our boat-ride on the 1st day at Algarve. It was a different perspective of the coastline when seen from the sea. This time we were on ground and we really wanted to see the sea from inside the rock formations of Algar Seco – our hide and seek playground for the day!

Portugal Please! Day 7: Algarve Coastline Adventures

As if every beach in the Algarve region has a story of its own, hopping from one beach to another is taken for granted. Given the fact that our hotel was just a stone’s throw away from the shore, we started the 2nd day of the exploration of Algarve region with checking out the nearest beach Praia da Oura. Make sure you have read our 1st day explorations here before enjoying the delights in store the 2nd day round.

Portugal Please! Day 6: All Alight at Algarve

After spending an awesome day and half up north in Porto, we drove for more than five hours to bypass Lisbon and reach straight to the Algarve region down south. Read more our Porto experience here first and then get on the car to enjoy Algarve with us. We decided to stay the night at a hotel at Boliqueme. Like many things in life and on the web – it is not always as it shows. The room turned out to be of really poor quality, small and above all unhygienic. Already exhausted after the long drive, we had no other way to crash in to bed but we were determined to switch to a better place the following day.

Portugal Please! Day 5: Tasting Porto in Porto

One cannot leave Porto without tasting Porto, the famous port wine which borrowed its name from the city itself. Our activities in day 1 in Porto involved a lot of walking all day long while we discovered the old school charm of the historic core. You can read more about that here incase you already haven’t done so. For the 2nd and final day in Porto, we saved the best for the last. Like a passionate kiss before bidding goodbye to a lover, we drenched our lips with five types of Porto before saying ‘tchau’ to Porto.

Portugal Please! Day 4: Never Part With Porto

They say, “What’s in a name?”, well – if a city’s name is embedded in the country’s name, then no wonder that there is something worthy out there to explore. What Porto is to Portugal is what breathing is to living it seems. Because Porto still being the 2nd largest city of Portugal, holds the most of the charm, history and energetic vibe the country has to offer. So if you have a couple of stop-overs planned in Portugal, certainly Porto must feature there. If you are thinking of visiting only one city in Portugal, shall we dare say that just visit Porto and you will not regret?

Portugal Please! Day 2: Lisbon on Seven Hills

There is plenty of sunshine available in Lisbon so there was no reason not to wake up early on our 2nd day to make an early exploration of the Portuguese capital. The day being 13th of June when Shehzaad was also celebrating his birthday, no gift was more precious than the gift of exploring a new city, new culture and new experiences. Every new travel feels like a new birth and if it coincides with a real birthday – nothing like it. Before we invite you to share our experience on the 2nd day in Lisbon, make sure you have read the experience we had on the day 1 in Lisbon.

Portugal Please! Day 1: St. Antonio’s Day Festival in Lisbon

Every year around 13th June, we make it a point to set voyage to a new destination in the world. What best to gift to a human life on a birthday but the gift of experience, that of travel, the joy to discover a new country, new culture and new culinary delights. In 2015, we went for road-tripping around beautiful Norway. In 2016, around the same time we were driving around Iceland and this year in 2017, we set our eyes on Portugal as Shehzaad flipped one more page of the life-years.
